2G-specific Just installed Custom UIC pipe, are these symptons normal?

Hey I just installed 2.5 inch UIC pipe on my 2G Automatic all the way to the T Elbow. It is flanged installed with 1G BOV.

The immediate difference is I felt the throttle to be sensitive which is great. BOV held the boost and when I let the car roll, it rolls much faster, kinda like I'm stepping on the throttle. Couple symptons kinda bugged me though. When I braked and have the car come to a stop, it goes down to 1000 RPM. When I put the car in Park, it shoots to 1600. Sounds like I'm stepping on the gas, pretty loud.

One other thing, the car jumps (shudders) every time I put the car into reverse.

Are these symptons normal or do I have something to worry about? I want my car to be healthy and I dont want these symptons to lead into huge problems.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you just need to adjust your idle speed set screw... assuming 2Gs still have them.

Utter from-my-posterior guess, but it sounds like the clearer path along with the lack of flex is making the engine run more easily and smoothly, so it's running higher. Some have run into similar problems when they replaced the exhaust, or even just switched to synthetic oil.

The high idle is likely also what's causing the 'clunk' into reverse... the crank is spinning faster than you're used to (or it's supposed to) when switching to R. Should go away once you set the idle lower. Not to mention why it feels like it's rolling faster... it's idling higher, so it actually IS rolling faster.

check for boost leaks with a leak tester and adjust your biss screw.

Thanks for the good info. Do you guys know where the speed adjustment screw is located?

Can you point it out in this picture?

^^^ Thanks!!

So I tightened the BISS screw and got the idle down to 1100 rpm. Is this still too high? Will it be bad for the car in the long run, burn more fuel quicker?

High idle rpms are normal with more airflow in the UIC pipe.

Car still jumps when I put it in reverse. Should I ignore all these symptons or get that shit fixed?

Man I was gonna get the David Brode UIC pipe, do you think people had the same problems as me when they got the Brode pipe installed?

Standard idle (IIRC) is 800 +/-50 for a manual... check the spec sticker under your hood for the proper idle speed. And get it to idle at that speed.

Again, I'd see it as a sign of the engine working more easily. And don't forget, you need to ground that pin to actually set the idle! Otherwise you could damage your BISS and/or TB uselessly.
