1997 eclipse GST
big 16g turbo ported/clipped--installed for over a year
greddy profec boost controller--installed for over a year
greddy trubo timer--installed for over a year

My car started doing this a couple of days ago. When I hit the gas to shift, the revs go up like crazy but the car barely picks up any speed. It does it on all gears 1-5.

**also I smell a very unsual smell smiliar to brake pads/emergency break.

the turbo spools because I can see the boost gauge and the BOV sound but the power that I had is not there.

The car still drives but when i want to give it a litle kick an take off, the revs just go up alomost to redline and the speed does not move. like before

ANY ASSISTANCE WILL BE GREATLY APRECIATED

the car shifts normally just wont gain speed like it used too and the RPMs just fly upthere in seconds.. feels almost weaker than NA car.

but I hope the clutch is the problem..got a stage 2 in my storage ive been wanting to put in there..

There's no reason you wouldn't be able to shift normally. The smell is the clutch disc slipping and burning. It's just shot - if you keep driving it it'll strand you. Replace it immediately.

make sure you remove the flywheel and have it machined properly to spec for youre clutch... if you drive around with a smoked clutch, you will destroy a flywheel quickly..
if you dont take the time to resurface that flywheel you will destroy youre new clutch much sooner... its a viscious cycle.

thank for taking time to ad some information and help out...thats what this sit should be about...lately i have noticed that people just talk trash to each other here. DSMers need to help each other out so we can bust those honda boys...good looking yall

i will be installing a new clutch and new flywheel.. but i do not know which brands or clutch/flywheel combo to get? any sugestions?..I thought I had a clucth for my eclipse in storage, but it was for a supra I used to own...i know I want a stage 2 or maybe 3 to support my next mods..i think that clutch got killed by my turbo upgrade. couldnt hang..LOL it was the stock.

well since youre fwd, I'm gonna say act2100, and a fidanza flywheel...
if you were awd id say go 2600... im awd and have a 2100 becuase its a dd often downtown driven and I couldnt deal with the pressure of the clutch :wussy:
so i say get the 2100 w/ street disc and a fidanza
good luck
