I've got an Autometer pro-comp liquid filled boost gauge that has leaked on me. Anyone know what kind of liquid it is? I need to refill it.

Most likely it's Glycerol, it is used on all gauges that are liquid filled to avoid the vibrations. I don't know how successful you would be to fill it and not have it leak again?

The seal in the back went bad - I'm just gonna replace it. If it is glycerol (and from the description I find online of the liquid, it probably is), where can I obtain it?

Try searching for it. www.google.com
wow good idea! :|

it's most likely glycerol. I'm not sure i fyou're gonna be able to re-real the back, do you plan on buying just the real seal and re-installing it? I would try getting ahold or someone at Autometer and see if the have the replacement parts.

Yeah, it's just a standard rubber seal on the back. I'm just gonna replace it and make sure there's sufficient pressure on it to hold. This is all providing I can find somewhere to get the glycerol, though. I'd be pissed off if I have chuck a boost gauge I've never even used. :notgood:

Thanks for the help, Captain Obvious.
All I came back with in a google search was definitions and commercial uses.

LOL sorry dude.. Uh ya I just searched google and its actually worthless which is kinda suprising.. I did a search on "buying glycerol" and didnt get much of anything. OMG

Lot of that going around. It may be a virus.

Oh, don't sell yourself short. You're also poorly-coordinated.
or does that sound weird?
Sounds fine from in here. Are the voices in other peoples' heads creating an interference for you?

No, a liquid-filled mechanical boost gauge. You have to use one if you've removed your balance shafts. <-THIS IS BULLSHIT!!

Pro-Comp liquid-filled gauges are designed for racing applications having extreme vibration or violent pounding. The bourdon tube gauge mechanism is encased in dampening fluid. This protection not only provides steadiness to the pointer but also adds longer life to the instrument
