A couple months ago i got a new timing belt and ever since it has been ticking like a time bomb, now a friend of mine said it could be the valves hitting the clyinders but its not consistant it comes and goes (the ticking). i think it could be the rocker arms but the ticking sound is loud and im a newbie to dsm's and i have no clue. Im gonna drive it to work today and hopefully nothing happens :( . I could really use all the information i could get, ASAP. Thanks :talon:

If it's still running, your retard-o friend now owes you beer. Valves kiss the pistons about twice, and the show's over.
Did you have the lifters out? Have they driven far enough to be fully-bled?

if its just a ticking sound, most likely lifter as Defiant said...you can get the revised lifters that have a 3mm hole as opposed to the pinhole of the stockers...this gets rid of it unless one of those collapses

rocker arms aren't going to make a ticking sound....if, perhaps, the roller is cracked it may make a sound but not quite a loud ticking....if the tincking gets overly annoying, you can install new ones or pull the old ones out and clean them. While doing this you can also inspect the rockers for cracks and/or damage. The only time I've seen a roller/rocker cracked was on a dsm that broke a timing belt and this in turn cause a lot of stress due to it being at highway speeds. I'm guessing that you're probably hearing lifter tick if anything....

Is it hard to replace the lifters what in all am i gonna have to do. And this is totally off the topic my friend says that engine knock it valves hitting the cylinders i keep telling him hes wrong and he insists it is, like perviously said if they do hit games over. Can every one who views this give my friend a description of what engine knock is. Thanks :talon:
