2G Talon Tsi boost problems

i have a 97 talon tsi awd automatic with the following mods, hks mega flow air filter, gready bov, and hks catback. My problem is when the engine is cold the boost gets really goofy its nothing then snaps and takes off, second is then i am in the situation where i have low rpms and high boost you can feel like there is somthing holding the engine back. Do i need a boost controller? any ideas?

How long since you took off your intake and checked your turbo bearings?

never... you think this could be the source of the problem. Some one told me they had seen black smoke come out of the tail pipe one time im not sure what that could be. piston rings or somthin
