ok i was on the expressway and was in torque converter lock punched it a little and like a popping noise came from the engine bay, then blue smoke was pouring out the back. i thought it was oil but turns out to be transmission fluid, so i guess what im asking is, has anyone had this problem before? im thinking the torque converter went bad, its leaking in that area.

and when i got it home i took the ignition wires off just to crank it over a little, and i heard loud clanking for just a second. now it turns over fine, but still afraid to actually start it. im thinkin of a manual swap but if its nothing that severe ill just fix it for now.

Any ideas?!?!

thanx

ok, i started it and it has a constant grinding noise from around the engine and tranny connection, the wheels are completely locked in reverse. so for the swap do i actually have to change the ecu, i know i need alot to do it, but it seems the way to go from here.

any suggestions?!?

thanx

My friend's grand prix did the same thing on the highway. We tried to get it home but eventually it wouldn't move. What happened is when it loses tranny fluid, the clutches melt together. When this happens, it will only be able to go in certain gears or it will get stuck in a gear. While it is possible to get the tranny rebuilt, it's cheaper to find a used one and have it put in. My bud paid 750 and that was from his uncle's shop so he had a discount.
