i have another car, its a 92 es. When i got the car i thought the noise was from the brakes, after i replaced those, i noticed it was drivetrain related. I know the flywheels teeth are bad, but i wouldnt think it would cause that noise??? i have a spare tranny, but i got this car to avoid medling. any ideas would be great.

any one? or if a mod thinks this should be in a different forum for better results please move it.

thanks,

colton

this pos doesnt even have a fog light. but ok, its a grinding noise only when im driving, and its pretty loud.

Okay, so we know it's not the fog light...
Does this noise change with engine speed, vehcle speed, what gear you are in, under load or deceleration, with clutch pedal pressed in or released, while turning one way or the other, does the vehicle have to driven for a while or does it always make the noise, can you feel it or is it just audible??

Sorry for the massive run-on sentence, but there is just so much info needed to help diagnose NVH concerns.

it makes the noise in an gear, under acceleration and deceleration, but if it coasts at the same speed in gear it doesnt make noise, but that rarely happens. its only when in gear and moving, turnin has nothing to do with it.

the questions helped, i wasnt sure what to explin.

Okay, when you shift does the noise change, or is it staying consistant with how fast you are going. If you have coast in neutral with the clutch pedal let out, is the noise still there? How about if you coast while in gear but with the clutch pedal pushed in? If you are not moving and have it in neutral, does it make noise when you when you have the clutch pedal out?

I am having a similar problem (not to hijack your thread). Under acceleration, there's a grinding noise.
Gets louder with higher RPM's (RPM Sensitive, not speed sensitive)
Gets quieter with deceleration.

If the car is in gear (any gear), with the clutch depressed, no noise.
If the car is in neutral, no noise, regardless of if the clutch is depressed or not.

I have boiled it down to the tranny, so that's comming out, and hopefully getting sent to Shep. ;-/ (There go the Taxes)

Sounds like input or countershaft bearings. If you are sending it out, they replace all that anyway so don't worry.
