1993 Eagle Talon ES n/t. From a different thread I tried the whole would stick to my ear to see where the sound is the loudest. Its a loud, fast knocking noise coming from the head. Its by far not the normal tick you hear from the valves. The noise is loudest it cylinder 2 and 3. When the engine is shut down it sounds like pieces flying around in the cylinder. I have oil pressure, but it is low and there is no smoke coming fromt he car.

I doubt anything would linger around inside your cylinder long enough for it to be a constant noise...if you are still worried about that, take off your spark plugs and look inside with a flashlight.

You could also take off your valve cover and see if all the lifters/rollers are working properly.

Are you sure its coming from the head? I had a problem with my #2 piston in my old 7-bolt and a mechanic that stopped by said it sounded like a seized lifter. It ended up being something wrong with the wrist pin or rod bearing...I never took it apart to investigate further.

There was gunk in my oil pan though, maybe you could pop that off and look inside.

I have had the cover off but I am not sure I can run the car safly with the cover off or can I? The head was rebuilt a month ago and the guy put together and timed it(right I hope). Havn't been able to drive it because of tranny problems.
