I picked up a 92 Laser RS, No Turbo, from a friend and not knowing to much about them he said the MAS would need to be replaced. It is throwing codes 13 and 25.

The car is very hard to start, dies, etc and stalls. Any ideas please. That would be a great help

Ben

13 is the intake air temp. sensor, 25 is the barometric pressure sensor. Both of those are part of the MAS. So, yes, you're most likely correct in your diagnosis. You might wanna swap one in from a friends car to try it out (if you can) before you buy one. They can be very expensive.

Thank you. I found one for a 1G for 35.00 with shipping. I guess I can give that a try. Really new to this, well import models. I take it 1G means the 1.8 and the 2 G means the 2.0?

I really appreciate this. This is my wifes major form of transportation.

If I need to get any parts, any suggetions where to get them? Also, I might just start doing some performance options, whether bolts ons or what ever.

I really appreciate any help

No, no. 1G is 1st generation, meaning 90-94, 2G is 2nd generation (95-99). You need a 1G 1.8 sensor (if your car has a 1.8 I mean). The 2.0 sensor probably won't work. You can try www.mitsubishigraveyard.com Gary is a good guy and very fair with his prices.

As far as upgrades go, I don't know that there is much available for the 1.8 motor. But hey, it doesn't hurt to take a look. Check out the vendor section on this site, they are trustworthy people to deal with.

OK So I am a dumbass!! I appreciate the help VERY MUCH.

We have a 92 Plymouth Laser RS. So it will be a 1G?

G Means Generation and not Grand like in thousands. Hey I might have taken the right gamble.

I will be VERY honest. I am not a very good import person, but I am willing to learn. If there ever is a computer problem let me know.

Thank you very much and any more help would be appreciated.

YES, it is a 1G. In fact all 1.8's are a 1G, they stopped making them in 94 (at least i think).

There are not alot of upgrades available for the 1.8, or really non-turbos in general. Some people have turboed their non turbo cars, but it would take quite a bit of money and time, and work to do this (of course).

The first free mod you can do is your Aircan (Use the search feature to find out further details). And of course you can do exhaust.

There is also a forum here special just for 1.8's, so go look there and introduce yourself and ask everyone in there for their opinions.

My first DSM was a 1.8 (see the little black car in my sig?), now I have an AWD Turbo Charged Talon.

There is a huge difference between the 2 cars, trust me.

The 1.8 is cheaper to maintain and keep running, and gets excellent gas mileage.

The Turbo cars a faster for sure, and expensive to have fixed when they break. For 3 reasons: The parts are more expensive, and they have more stuff in them, and are more cramped with shit as well (engine compartment, etc..).

Welcome to the boards. Enjoy your new sports car!

I really appreciate the information and advice. I got the car from a friend for 500 and it has 100,000 miles on it. Yes the drive belt and some other things were replaced at 85k. I got the car for the wife as a daily driver for groceries, etc. Basically a beater, but it is going to be a very well running beater.

I had it the other day when she used my car, 99 Mustang, to go down a dirt road and it looked like she was involved in a tractor pull!! I show my car at events and the scratches and dings were getting rediculious.

Like I said before, I really don't know way too much about imports, but I have learned a few things so far, ONE, I admire an import owner who does their own work, because they are a pita to work on, and TWO, It might be fun to learn how to do some mods on that baby and see how fast I can get it!!

well, i've worked on both, and for the most part domestics are easier to work on - expcept for stupid things like spark plugs on an LT1 - takes like 11 hours

or that one last tranny bellhousing bolt on a 4.6 liter mustang
