Loud whistle above 3k rpm?

Well, I went to test drive a 95 gs with 82k miles on it, but above 3k rpm, it had a very loud whistle.. not like a turbo whine or nothing like that, just a high pitch whistle.. any ideas what that could be? guy only wants $2500 for it, so I dont know..

my friends 97 gs has the same problem... people think hes runing hardcore boost :laugh:

Oops didn't even see the whole "GS" thing.

My friend drives his parents civic ex sometimes and it sounds like it has a rank turbo.

It could be the belts, thats what it sounds like on my friends car. I guess it could be a vacuum leak as well.

exhaust manifold probably has a crack in it. mine did the same thing up until i installed a header. my ex.mani had 3 cracks in it.

I'll also say exhaust manifold crack(s). My 90 GS has whistling as well, major cracks in it's exhaust manifold.
