okay my machine shop called me and told me that both sets of pistsons are using a 21mm piston pin, (i supposubly have a set of 2g and i my 1g). what is a visible way to tell the diff between the 2, on the top of the piston the numbers are the same but i cant rember the #s buy the pin hole, but i know they are different.

is my machine shop wrong, or have i been sold a set of 1gs.

Did anyone mod your car before you? It sounds if you did recieve 2g pistons that the previous owner already put 2g pistons in with the 1g rod. Are you replacing your current pistons/rods with a 2g rod also? Or are you planning on using the 1g rod? The 2g piston is different from the 1g so if the pistons in the motor already are exactly the same and you know you bought a 2g piston.

the pistons are NOT the same...well not exactly.

the pistons from my car are form an unmodified car.

the pistons i bought were from someones suppsubly 2g.

the pistons have the same number on top of the piston, but the numbers by the piston pin are different.

are th ose numbers by the piston pin the part #s? or maybe my machinist is off? :thumbdown

I'm not sure on the numbers I don't have my shop manuals with me, however, and I might be wrong but I always thought that the 2g and 1g pistons were visably different. If both pistons from the car and the ones you bought look identical, minus the part numbers, I would imagine they are the same piston. I'm not sure if numbers changed between the 1ga/1gb models or if they changed between generations i.e. 1g/2g. Hopefully someone with a manual or more knowledge of the actual generation pistons can chime in. Let's also hope someone answers this is a good question.
