Whats up guys? Ok so here is the deal: I didnt' drive my car for about a month, but I would start and run it every few days. So recently I took my car out and it warmed up extremely fast, now I live in CT and its pretty cold out here. I mean my car warms up so fast that by the time I get to the end of my road, the gauge is right in the middle were it should be. It doesn't overheat though it just climbs up to the middle really fast and stays there. Now I don't know what could cause this. Is it the head gasket? or a coolant leak? and help would be appreciated. thanks

i changed the anti-freeze less than 3 months ago. so you think it is the thermostat or hoses? but it never overheats, if the thermostat was stuck open wouldn't it overheat?

kind of seems normal to me. Stuck thermostat would make it either overheat or take forever to warm up. My car takes under 3 mins. to be fully warmed up and i know the thermostat, radiator cap, and fluid is good since it was changed right before winter.

What makes you think it's open? How about stuck closed. Or, just slow to open?

Mine must be a freak then. It takes forever to warm up... especially when it's cold outside. I guess it's time to check the 'stat.

Did you get the coolant mix right?

Is the car actually warm (as in you have heat)?

Well, it doesn't take minutes to warm up, it is literally warm within one minute. If the thermostat was stuck "closed" then why would my car warm up so fast? I am not being a smart ass, I just don't know why that would be the problem. And I know its not normal because my car used to take forever to warm up, about 8-10 min. "Omega":My car does push out warm air, for alittle while it would push out cold air while I was stopped, but I topped off the antifreeze and this stopped, and I only added about a cup of antifreeze. The mixture is a correct mix of 50/50.

Because the water's not getting to the radiator

No, that's okay.

Sounds more and more like a sticking thermostat. It's not opening smoothly as it should, then a different times sticks closed or open.
