hey guys, I got a problem. I'm trying to upgrade my fuel pump on my 97 gsx, and as i was trying to remove the fittings the metal tubing that goes into the unit kinked. I cant un kink because i"m afraid I will break the line. i cant cut the tube and just put the new fuel line over the cut tube because not enough clearence for the cutter. any suggestions. a new fuel sending unit will cost about $400 from satan and about $300 from a discount parts online site or $120 from a junkyard aroun here but none available. any one with suggestions please.

I have been searching the clasifieds for about one hour and all I find is the stock pump. Every auto parts store need to special order it and it costs about $300-$400. I know this is in the wrong place but if any one has a 2g awd sending unit please pm me. unless any one has any suggestions on how to fix the one I have.

I kept having trouble with that same thing when I replaced my pump, and each time I bent it one way I'd slowly bend it back. That particular piece of tubing seems to be very maliable. Next time you try to loosen that fitting though: use either a pair of vise-grips or a long pair of goose necks on the sending unit side. Worked best for me... Good luck!

my tubing bent to the point of no return. it now has a kink in it. i am afraid that if i try to bend it the other way it will break.

I received a used sending unit through the mail today and installed my pump.

Now my fuel gauge does not work. Any ideas on how to fix this or should I install an aftermarket fuel gauge? If I install an after market gauge will that not work also if the float in the sending unit is not working?

One more question on my busted sending unit the wires that lead from the actual pump are spliced into the harness. The old pump still works but it says Denso on the top by the nipple. Could it a higher flowing fuel pump and if so how to I tell? That Denso marking is the only marking on the entire pump.

same problem i installed my 255 walbro pump and now my fuel gauge doesn't work, its stuck under the E and it just sux playing the guessing game on gas levels although the light still works the neddle doesn't move , thanx to anyone that finds the answer or nows it

before you installed this did you look up the vfaq?

i hope its useful for me because my sending unit that i bought was shipped yesterday

yeah i did but it seems as though it is something that happens to alot of people when they change there fuel pump. still no answer no body know about it or something

well it seems that when i did my gas guage i forgot to disconnect the battery so yeah but if u unplug it again while the battery is disconnected and then plug it back in then it resets back to the amount of fuel u have in da tank, that may not be the solution but that worked for me.:thumb:
