So this morning i go to start my car, it cranks and wants to start but doesnt. Popped the hood and checked, everything seems in place. One thing i did notice was a black thick oil on my egt probe when i took it out. I could smell fuel out the exhaust so i think its gettin fuel. I didnt pull the plugs or anything, its too cold out. Anyone have any ideas of wat it could be. The car ran fine last night. So now im stuck at home...

well from what you have said..first thing i would do is check for spark..but before that...one thing that i looked over (when i had this problem) which was very simple was my MPI fuse(located near the battery) i would check that first and then check for spark...

I'm dealing with a "car wont start" problem of my own but in doing so i've learned a lot about what should be some of the first things you should check. First make sure your car is getting spark and getting fuel. Are you sure it was oil on the egt prove and not just black from the exaust? To check for spark pull your spark plugs out, attach them to your wires and ground them to the valve cover. Have someone fire up the car and make sure that you have a nice bold blue spark from each spark plug. If you can smell fuel your probably getting it but just to make sure your getting it in each cylindar while checking the spark, look in each cylinder and see if you can see fuel entering (you may want to disconnect the spark plugs while you do this so you dont start a fire since some gas may spray out the top of the valve cover) Oil in the exaust may be due to a blown headgasket. To check for this run a compression test. I believe your going to want around 150lbs in each cylinder and a difference of no more than 25% between them. Results may not be 100% accurate since its cold out though. Also check for vaccum leaks my pressure testing your system. You should be able to buy the vaccum tester and the compression tester at any autoparts store (autozone, advanced auto, etc). Hope this proves to be a good start.

got her started. I think the coolant passages were frozen cause some coolant shot out of the radiator hoses but she is up and running, now i gotta find a replacement rim so i can actually go somewhere.
Some AAA guy was in my lot helpin other ppl so he told me to hold the gas pedal down and i cranked it for a minute and it finally started.

Thanx for reading

i need to flush my entire radiator and coolant and replace it yes... thanks for the heads up...enjoy ur summer time in australia, i am freezing my ass over here. :D
