Your manifold may have a turbocharger attached to its outlet end.

It's normal on a turbocharged engine. Actually, it's fairly common on most engines, but they are seldom given a glance just after being at full-chat.

sorry to burst your bubble, stock (he has no real mods) not running an insane amount of psi should yield a manifold that doesn't glow on these cars. if you have some insane mods then yes that can happen.

then everyone's manifold should glow.

I remember my manifold has always glowed since I started modding my car when it was very near stock, we used to joke about grilling a steak on it.

Drive this "stock" car up a hill under load with the turbo spooling and report back after.

Make sure to light up a cigarette to calm you down when you find out this is quite common...use the manifold.

should i use heat wrap on mine? tubular exhaust mani without ceramic coating and i have such a nice new paint job. will it bubble the paint on my hood?

I can if you are putting the car under a load for a long amount of time. The nice part about tubular manifolds is that they cool alot faster then a huge chunk of cast iron. So they will get red hot quick then start to cool right away.

One of the benefits is that turbos work off of heat energy so if you can keep as much heat energy inside then it will help make more power.

So, yes, I would get it coated.

interesting i drove my car at 143mph for 20miles and when i got off the interstate at a gas station i checked under the hood to see the turbo seals went bad and mine wasn't glowing. maybe i have a magical turbo on my car. oh ya 15psi boost to

It all depends on how long the transition time was from hard pull to popping the hood. Something that hot will cool down fairly quickly from a red hot state. It will still be plenty hot, but perhaps not glowing. It does happen to EVERY turbo on the planet when it is run hard or for along time or both, it is just the nature of the beast.

I have a good video of a motor on the dyno that glows real nice, I just need a host.

My question is where in America can you drive 143mph for 20miles straight? Why 143 and not 142 or 144?

try interstate I-74 the most boring drive you can ever take. no houses either side no corn no nothing, but flat road, not even dead road kill squirels. all for a good 140miles straight.

when going through a certain state

i had my t-25 and evoIII manifold hotter than hell. it was the same color as the pictures. it scared be at first but now i have come to embrace it. i wouldnt worry about it

Yep, its definetly comon, we did a couple highway pulls, instant we got off highway pulled into a gas station and sure enough it was glowing bright red... :p
