The lowdown:
1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. 164,000 miles on the body, 30-45k miles on the JDM motor, which is from a 91+ model.
I've had the car running several times, but she's down again and has been for several months.
The problem is that the moment the motor starts it dies again, no matter how many times I try. I've narrowed it down to a fuel delivery problem.
According to my book, the fuel pump is supposed to whirr to live when the key is turned to the 'on' position. I've listened and the fuel pump won't whirr. I've checked the connections and their fine. Using a method descibed in the book to bypass the fuel relay box (next to the ECM inside the console) I got the fuel pump to whirr to life as described it should in the book, so I know the pump is working.
The book says that without proper ignition pulses fuel delivery will be disrupted, and I'm thinking that's what's happening here. So I think the fault might lie in the Crank/Camshaft sensor or the ECM.
I'm going to be checking both soon but would like any more advice on the matter. What else could it be? What else should I look for?
Many, many thanks!
