A quick Question: Im trying to remove the oil pump cover so i can put in the balance shaft eliminator kit in. The motor is currenty on a stand out of the car, my question is, the pulley for the timing belt on the crank shft has to be removed to get the cover off rite?? And if so how do you get it off without the motor turning?

Thanks for the help,
Josh

the easiest way to get it off is to use a air ratchet. comes off easily. if you dont have one, then you have to use something to hold the gear in place. try using a flathead screwdriver and putting it in one of the grooves and the other end hitting something when you try to turn it.

Here is a real easy way....

I put the flywheel bolts in the backside of the crank. Grab a nice long metal pole, not to thick, kind of skinny, but make sure its strong. Hvae someone hold that peice of metal to keep the crank still. Then on the front case side, grab the 3/4's and another peice of pole to make the 3/4's longer to make more torque to crack it loose. Soak it down in some pb blaster just to loosen it up a bit, and give it a quick twist, should come loose fairly quick with a good jolt of power.

O 6 bolt flywheel pattern on crank.

Drop the pan and wedge a piece of wood into the crankshaft. I used a crescent wrench that had a rubber grip on it. Took my 220lb friend with a breaker bar to get mine off the first time.
