I just replaced the O2 sensor (the one after the cat) on my 96 Talon ESI (2.0 non-turbo) not more than six months ago. Yesterday the "check wallet" light came on and it appears that I have another O2 sensor (P0141) code thrown. WTF?! What could cause the O2 sensor to keep going bad?

Also, since they do not smog test here, can I simply do the O2 delete proceedure (the secondary O2 sensor behind the CAT) found on Vfaq? How would this effect the performance?

I only replaced the rear sensor (downstream). The code it's throwing is for the "downstream" sensor..........the one I replaced.

check the connections.. also check to see the condition of the o2 sensor... maybe you can clean it and still use it? What brand o2 sensor did you get?

the secondary O2 sensor won't do anything to your performance. It's simply there to tell the car that the cat is there, and working. It's basically useless, go ahead and get rid of it if it keeps giving you problems.
