I got home tonight got out and heard a spewing. Opened the hood its leaking from the bottom passenger side. Right around the bottom hose. I checked the hose it looks ok. But for the amount that it dumped I dont know if it could be a worn hose. It dumped most all of it. I was at my uncles house and I ran in to pick up my broter. Then he wanted me to fix something on his computer. I completely forgot the car was running. When I went back out the fans were on. Does anyone know if there is something wrong or its just a case of it got too hot? thanks :dsm:

Did you fill up the coolant recently or anything? Just asking because maybe it was your reservoir bottle just dumping out excess coolant.

What did the temp guage say? Thats going to tell you the most?

I'm replying for my son (he's at work). :D

I'm sure he said last night that the temp guage was NOT running hot. He said it was right in the middle.

Hubby wonders if it is a worn hose that split or something?

I know he kept it checked regularly, but I'm not sure if he actually added any recently. My guess is that it wasn't just the reservoir bottle cuz' there was a HUGE puddle on the ground. :thumbdown

Oh, that bottle can spit out more than you think...LOL Also there is a small hose under the housing sorta that seems to split very easy. It seems to be one of those, that gets over looked when checking the hoses.

Thanks Wendy.

Hubby put antifreeze in it this morning & it was dumping it as fast as he could put it in. :( We tried to look under the car and it didn't appear to be coming from a hose. Our mechanic stopped up to take a real quick peek. He "thinks" it might be coming from the resevoir tank, but can't be sure until it's torn down a little. Hopefully that is all it is.

We went ahead and made an appointment with him cuz' he's so hard to get in to. If it's the radiator itself or the tank I'm pretty sure our son can replace it himself. Good thing it's nice here this week, cuz' I'm sure he'll be tearing in to it tomorrow. :D

Honestly, I say if anyone is the least little mechanically inclined. Id save your money, and pull the resevoir yourself, and check it out. Its really not that hard on these cars. I say that only because if for some reason it did happen to run hot. You guys are going to possibily be spending alot, if the headgasket needs to be changed, and you have to have, a mechanic do the work. :( If your son doesnt have a haynes manual it might be a good purchase. Ive used mine til the pages are falling out..LOL Good luck...

I think he does have that manual Wendy. (at least he has some sort of manual!) He's used it to do a couple things on his car already. He's much more knowledgeable than hubby when it comes to cars. :shhh: :D

I do think he will probably be able to do this himself. At least to tear it down far enough to figure out where it's coming from. And if it is the radiator or tank I think he can replace those himself too.

Here's hoping! :thumb:

I called O'reilly's and they said they had "universal" tanks. Not sure if it will work though. They have a 1 1/2 qt. and a 2 1/2 qt. Does anyone know if my tanks are 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 ?

thanks

Good news. I took the radiator out today and took it to a radiator shop. It's not the tank. It's an actuall hole in the radiator. He said something got up in there and poked it. He says he'll have it fixed by tommorow. :) :dsm:
