I have been running the maft blow through setup on my car for the past few months with no problems. On my way home from work yesterday, I was driving nice and easy. The car was running very good, idling perfectly. Out of no where, while I was cruising in third gear, the car suddenly started to act as if one of my spark plug wires had popped out. As I would put more pressure on the gas pedal, the rpms would struggle to rise. The tone of the motor changed also, becoming much deeper and rumbling. As i would step on the gas pedal, the rumbling would get louder like a lawn mower. Bringing the car to a stop, the car at idle sounded like a V8 making a chug-chug-chug exhaust sound. The rpms at idle still stayed at 750 though. Thinking that somehow one of my sparkplug wires may have popped up, I opened the hood only to find that everything was secure. When I disconnect the Maf plug from the maft translator, however, the problem seem to dissappear. Even though with the maf plug disconnected the rpms at idle began to surge, the restriction on the engine seemed to dissappear. The rpms rose freely as if normal and the V8 like rumbling of the motor was gone. This morning I reconnected the maf plug to the translator. The idle surge with the plug disconnected dissappeared immediately, and the car ran perfect as it did before these problems had began. This lasted for around 10 minutes, when suddenly the car started to have the same problems as before, chugging like a V8 while struggling to rise in rpms. I got out and disconnected the maf plug from the translator for a few seconds. Then I replugged it. The car, once again, would run perfect for a few minutes. Then suddenly the problems would come back. I did this around 4 times, until I just kept the plug disconnected from the maft completely. Any ideas on what the problem may be??? How can I check if the GM Maft itself is bad??? The maft setup has been running fine for the past few months now. I have no idea of what may be wrong

Take it out and look at the wires on it. Mine was acting funny for awhile too...it was stumbling alot and felt like mini fuel cuts. It turned out my new turbo was pushing the oil that was stuck in my IC from my old turbo and hitting the wires. Just a thought.

Also, did anyone mess with your settings? You might want to check your IC pipe connections...even though your car will run with a hose disconnected before the MAF, it still doesn't run 100%.

you mentioned that it felt as though a plug wire popped off. Did you in fact check the boot that connects to the spark plug? Many people had problems with the boots wearing out because of oil being in the plug wells and the spark grounding out against the sides of the wells. This happened to me, my wires were old and the spark was jumping to the sides of the wells rather than the plug. It made my car run just like you said yours did.

I still can't figure out what is wrong. My maft settings are correct. When it suddenly decides not to work, the car runs very very rich, to the point where raising the rpms is very difficult. When this happens, disconnecting the mas plug seems to solve the problem even though the car would still runs rich and stutters at boost (it is not nearly as bad though.) When I reconnect the mas plug to the maft, the car runs fine again and perfectly tuned. This lasts for 20-30 minutes then the problems suddenly happens again without warning. Also, when I shut off the car and restart it, this seems to elimnate the problem and the motor runs normal again. But once again, it only lasts for a few minutes and the problems are back again. I've been driving with the maf disconnected now and laying off the boost. Is this bad for the motor in anyways?? besides running pig rich? Please help :( . Thanks
