wuts going on...engine detonation?

ok so im drivin around and messin w/ my car and im goin about 30 in 1st gear.. about to red line when i hear this huge knocking sound on the bottom of my car and suddenly my car isnt pushing anymore...the rpms are dropping.. if i press the gas it doesnt increase speed my rpms just rase.. and it didnt pop out of gear cuz i know wut thats like..so i take it into 2nd and its goin fine ....well now were goin down the highway and all of the sudden my car just shuts off in the middle of the highway goin about 50 i dono wtf caused it.. i had a half tank of gas, battery works....my dad thinks no fuels getting through...because you can see that the batterys workin so i dono wut the hell to do please help me........... my dsm is my life.

does it crank? if you push the gas and try it like a carbureted car, does it run for a bit, really really rough? if it does that, you may have slipped your timing belt, because that's what happened to me.

doesnt start at all...battery's okay though.
