My '93 Tsi awd has an idling problem that cropped up recently. When the engine is cold, the car starts fine but immediately idles at about 1800 - 2000 rpm. If I blip the throttle, it will rise to about 2500 - 3000 rpm and stay there. As the engine starts to warm up, the idle starts to surge from about 1200 to about 1800 rpm. When the engine reaches normal operating temp, it idles smooth at 900 rpm, as it used to all the time.
Initially, I thought it might be a vacuum leak, but that would affect it at all temps, so I ruled that out. The Biss is intact and adjusting it does not affect this cold idling problem, just the warm idle level.
Is the ISC affected by temperature or is there something else that could be temperature related that is causing this? I have owned this car for several years and never had an idling problem until recently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Aaron
