Whenever i open my car, my alarm goes off, every single time. My drivers side door lock is broken so i have to open it from the passenger side, but this used to not happen

Any suggestions on how to fix this? or is their a way to disable the alarm or horn or what?

Thanx for all the help.

Tom

you can disable the alarm by taking out the fuse that controls the interior light and such. I beleive its the one all the way on the bottom, all the way to the right. This is should probably be a tempory fix untill you find the problem.

might be the hood switch. I know it sounds wierd but I could not figure out why my alarm kept going off. I went to the dealer and they told me to check the hatch and the hood and pull on them, when I pulled on the hood it went off. So I shimmed the switched up with some washers and it is good to go now.

i had that problem too when i first bought the car. i could lock it and as i was walking away it would go off. then if i tried to turn it off nothing would happen, i could unlock it, get in the car, turn on the engine, pop the hood, etc. id have tp pull the + batt cable to turn it off. same thing happened sometimes(but rare) when i unlocked it then opened the door it would go off, again id have to remove the batt cable to disable it.

so i stopped locking it.

then someone broke into it and stole everything(well its not like i made it difficult for them). so i started to lock it and it hasnt acted up ever since. i hear you either have to fix it by finding out whats wrong, or override the stock alarm by going aftermarket alarm.

oh i forgot to add. i was talking to one of the guys at a audio store telling him my dilemma. he said that i might need to take it to a locksmith and get the tumblers in the keyhole checked out, that they might be shorting the circut and setting it off. he said either that, or i buy one of his 500$ alarms.

Which is why you always be careful to avoid audio store "experts". There's no 'tricity in the lock, it's a switch worked by a lever off the lock. A locksmith would look at you the same way I looked at the monitor as I read this "information".
