Ok There are a few problems on the DSM that I am intersted in.
It has a lifter tick (which I heard is normal for DSMs)
-Is there a way to remove the tick without rebuilding or taking apart the engine?
The Balance shafts are out of phase and gives low end vibration and noise.
-Can this damage anything and like I just asked, is there any way to fix without taking apart the engine.
Also and final question, I was wondering if it would be safe for a noob like myself to change the timing belt, pulleys, and headgasket. If not I was wondering if there was anyone in the Metro-Detroit Area who was willing to help out a fellow DSMer. Thanks Alot

Sometimes oil changes will affect it, and RESTORE seems to keep some DSMs happy.

It just makes the car feel like crap. It can shake loose some stuff, but you won't know what until just after it's too late.

No way to tell how noob you are. However, since all of these could have been much more quickly answered on your own with a search, I'll guess it's not safe for you.
