After I start my car I get a nice belt scream for just a second, then somethimes before the car is warmed up one of them screams for just a few more seconds. I had the timing and all acc. belts replaced not but 6 months ago at a Mitsu dealer. Should I bring it to the dealer again and have them check the work? The dealer that did it originaly was in MN and now I live in AZ will the dealers here still honor the work of the one in MN? Thanks guys!

Going to sound like a newbie here.....how do I tighten the belts? I know I should have a manual but I can't find one for the 2gs localy....thanks in advance...

loosen the power steering pump bolts and alternator bolts, and screw in the tensioner screw on the alternator to tension that. and the power steering just give it move tension with your hand and tighen. thats how i did mine.

It could be a loose belt, or it could be something else. When mine started screaming, it got a little worse everyday. It started to shred one of my belts. My water pump was going bad, so I had to replace the water pump.

first thing i would probably do, is put a new belt on.....alot of time's they get hot and start to get dry rot, which then hardens the belt and makes it slip in the morning cause it can't grip your pullies till the belt gets warm........back in the old day's, they use to put a little toothpaste on the belt to stop the squeeling...........hotwheels of turborides

u should be able to just look at it and figure out how to tighten your belts.
If not then you prob should be having a mechanic working on your car.

It better not be the belt, they are almost brand new, and if that were the case the replacement of them would be under the warrenty that I mentioned in my first post. I will take a better look at the tentioners tonight...
