as the title states, i have found NO informatoin for my problem..

this is what happends, over the course of 300 miles or so, the coolant level goes down and takes just under a gallon to fill back up, when it starts getting low, while driving, temperature is Perfect.

if you drop rpm, or idle, temp climbs to just under the H.
but if you take off again, or rev the car once, temper drops back to normal INSTANTLY.

the overflow stays perfectly full and warm.

thermostat? or is the coolant level still adequate at higher rpm, from leaking coolant into engine? there is no white smoke from exhaust ata ll..

when you fill the level to full, even after you drive a while, the temper will fluctuate from normal temp, to colder and back up, while driving.

fikked up thermostat? making the water get hot, and the steam escapes lowering the level?

or a leak in a pipe someplace.

when you first open the hood it feels like a sauna. but the cap is tight with no leaks.

I have some new information.

it seems that after driving. even with the temperature at normal, when you stop, the upper coolant line is pressureized, and water is spewing out the coolant overflow tube.

this leads me to believe that
1 the radiator cap is too strong.
2 the headgasket is leaking into the coolant and pressurizing it. because the is no coolant in the exhaust.

any ideas on this.

or could the thermostat cause this atall?

Try this, start the car cold with the radiator cap off. Once the car warms up you should be able to see the "coolant flow" in the thermostat housing. If you do this would rule out a bad water pump.

Slowly bring the rpms up and if you see the coolant bubbling steadily you have a headgasket issue.

Besides that its pretty simple check all hoses for leaks.

The reason the temperature fluctuates is because the sensor has no coolant to "read" when the level gets low. With no coolant to "read" it maxes out in temperature, much like your block does when there is no coolant in it. Something to think about while you are driving and warping the head from the constant temperature fluctuations. The heads on these engines can take some abuse but not alot. Once you warp the head you will see what I mean about a dsm turning you into a mechanic. :thumb:

I dont know the history of the 6bolt in the car, so if i had to put a new hg on it, might as well do timing belt, since its gonna be loosened anyway.
