Exhaust leak? Tranny whine?

I recently put an Apexi N1 cat back on my girlfriend's 2G GS and not too long after, she started getting this high pitched whine from the passenger side floor. She thinks that there is an exhaust leak like one of the bolts came loose between the cat and the exhaust mid-section. I'm starting to think that the gasket at that point might have broken or somethin (used the new gaskets supplied by Apexi in the install). Recently, I came up with the idea that the noise might have something to do with the transmission (car only has 30k miles). Its just a whine that is kinda quiet at low rpms but gets louder as the rpms go up. Its in every gear too, not just first or whatever, but you can't hear it while crusing. Just wondering if you guys had any thoughts and if we should take it to the dealer to get it checked out, even with the aftermarket exhaust (she has a warranty) or is it somethin I could troubleshoot and fix.

Nope, not that kind of noise. Her belts squeak sometimes too and its a totally different noise. There is no whine at idle, only when accelerating and it gets louder as the rpms go up. Also, the whine is on the complete other side of the car, belts are on the drivers side.
