Heater Core question

I have a loud noise coming for the part that is known as the heater core. I recently had mice in my car even though it sits in my nice warm garage. I think they nested in the ducts for the air. Well after letting it sit and not knowing the mice had nested I took a very sharp left turn. While turning I hear what sounds like nuts going from one side of the car to other then loud noises coming from the fan area. Im almost positive that it took out a fin on the "propeller" which is making a loud beating noise (like putting a card in a bicycle tire). Now my questions is how do I fix my problem. Can i just drop the fan assembly and replace it or do I have to pull my whole dash out and replace the whole core? Thanks for the help in advance!!!

Start by replacing the blower fan and cleaning out what you can reach. If the mice were nesting farther up you'll have to decide how bad you want to get into it. Because of the AC evap, pulling the heater core won't be fun.

Well the last time I was home i tryed to just pull the fan out. There were some funky screws that werent normal. You know what kinda screws there called so i can get the right bit?
