Today I installed my dejon tool intake pipe and my ngk plugs and wires. The intallation was mostly painless. I started the car and a check engine light was on and the engine was misfiring, especially when i start getting on the gas, doing the same thing when I took it for a drive. Checked the wires, they were all in the right spot, checked the gap on the plugs, all set at .030, everything looked fine, so i unplugged the battery, came back and tried again to no avail.
I pulled the plugs and of course they were fouled out from running too rich. I put the old plugs AND wires back in and the stock intake pipe back on and it still ran the same. I am stumped
Yes I did reconnect the MAF of course, i did reconnect the bov tubing and the little vaccum hose or whatever that connects to the maf also, hell i even reconnected the cc tube and the valve cover vent hose. Nothing.
I don't remember banging up the MAF too bad while removing the old pipe, but would a bad MAF cause this? I'm somewhat new and don't know how to check the check engine codes.
The car is a 1991 talon tsi AWD. 16g turbo, 550cc injectors, stealth TT fuel pump and that's about it (yes i know, not a way to start out, but i bought it this way)
So could this be the MAF causing this or what the heck? It ran fine before i touched it, now it runs like crap.
