ok guys i really need some help here,i don't know these cars to well yet and tonight i THINK i blew my oil pump,me and a buddy were racing on the highway i took every gear at 7grand and at 4th my car started to sputter so we got off and my lifters were unusually lous and i checked my oil it was fine so i looked at my guage and it was barly over the lineso i drove home carfully i still have pressure but not alot of it and i can hear sumthin rattling were my oil pump is or rite my the crank on the drivers side,i think it's my oil pump am i rite??? and wot kind of work am i looking at this wekend when i change it??? it's a 93 N/T
 
that's the exact same problem i experienced last week. the car is at the shop right now gettin fixed. i was thinking it was my oil pump too but i haven't heard back from them. i was hoping that's all it was and not my turbo.
 
before u jump to conclusions check the wire going to ur sending unit, it mite have come loose, and you said something about ur lifters???
 
ok i know it might not be my oil pump now i started the car up this morning and my oil pressure came back ti life and it sounds fine,but when i rev it upto 2 grand i hear a loud knock that seems to be comin from one of the cams or anywhere in that area,i pulled the VC off and everything is in tact and seems to be fine,nothing is loose or out of place,.Peace!
 
well that mite be ur lifters, mine click LOUD sometimes, thats only when i know when my oil is getting low, then i change the oil and im strait, u mite have been mad low on oil and starved the lifters and a few of them could be shot, i mite be wrong, when its idleing does it make any knocking???? im wondering what it mite be when u rev ur motor up, doesnt sound good, have u noticed power loss?
 
well i've been out their all day and i think i've figured it out,but to answer you're questions first i've experienced no power lose and it runs fine at idle and when i rev it upto 2 grand it knocks loudly,but i checked all my lifters and their fine,i turned it over a few times and checked the lifters again and nothing,so i started the car and pulled a plug wire and found that my second cylinder to the left is causeing my problem so i've determined my rob bearing is spun on that cylinder,all the rest knocked when i pulled the pug wire and it completly stopped when i pulled that plug,so this week i'm gonna replace my rod bearings and see wot happens,i'll most likly ditch my balance shafts aswell cause i read they can be a problem and rob me of my hp.so thanx i really apreciate all the reply and you never know it might be a lifter,i'll find out when i do the rod bearings,if it's still knocking i'll just rebuild the head LOL damn DSM'S.Peace!
