I had a crack in my intercooler from the power steering cooling loop. I moved the loop and got the intercooler welded and pressure tested.
I have dejon tool full upper pipe with greddy type s and a joe p mbc.
I get a friend to rev and i dont feel any air leaking out. I tried to use the tester from vfaq and it doesnt ever pressurize, the boost gauge stays at 0psi.
Ill hit the gas and it will hit about 14psi by 2500 or 3000 or so, and bamn feels like its hitting a fuel cut? but atonly 14 psi?
When it was stock it ran fine up to 18psi.
does t boost leak make it feel like fuel cut early?
Are there any other ways to test besides the vfaq method?

Pressurize the intake and search everything from the compressor outlet to the intake manifold and injector seals. You have a boost leak in there somewhere and it is probably big.

Yes, a leak will cause you to hit fuel cut sooner. The turbo has to work its ass off to get the system pressurized which elevates your incoming air signal through the mas.

i have the tester hooked up just like it says on vfaq and it wont even pressurize the system? the boost gauge doesnt even move? and i dont hear any air coming out

First check ALL the clamps that are associated with the turbo system (IC pipes) and that they are nice and tight. Next, and this is my opinion, zip tie everything that hooks up to the intake mani because I found that most stock clamps just don’t cut it especially the hose for the brake booster, that’s a must. Maybe your compressor is flowing out to slow...who knows...although check the obvious. Our you getting a lot of black smoke?

Hope i help. :thumb:

yea im getting tons of black smoke, i have a red car with pitch black rear end...
well i still couldnt get the tester to work it wouldnt pressurize?
butttt
i reved the throttle body with my righ thand and somehow got under the rubber hose under the car and felt air so there seems to be a hole in that, i hope thats the only boost leak. im about go go get one made out of mild steel piping and see if that is the only real leak

Well also check all your wiring, especially your MAF. That’s all I can say. And about you saying that you felt air coming out a hole... you where revving your car and that makes it hard to determine if you have a boost leak with all the noise and the fans running to make matters worse. :thumb:

Did you make the Boost Leak Tester like the one in the VFAQ like I did....
Make sure your boost leak tester isn't leaking at the valve.... don't ask me how I know this....

there was a HUGEEE rip in the stock lower rubber hose, OMG it was so big, i got a steel piece custom made to replace it and car runs perfect, not juist get rid of my tranny leak and id be alright.
