no power to windows and dash running lights

i have a 91 talon and have noticed a problem as of late, i need to have the car running for my power windows to work!? i also noticed that my day time running light dont come one unless the car is running either, i woudl liek to be able to use my windows without having to start the car, ive checked relays and fuses but come up with nothing, any ideas?

ya i am having the same problem, but its my fault because i touched one of the negative wires to the positive terminal on the battery. so needless to say i now only have power to ANYTHING when my car is actaully running, so ive checked all my fused and i think i could have messesed up the alternator because i watch the lights when i shut my car off and u watch them dim off with the RPM of the motor, so i dont know, the only power i get is to start the starter, so ive checked EVERY fuse in the motor compartment, under where my feet are, everything is golden, so i dont know where to go now

thats kinda funny cause mine happened almost the exact same way! my power wire on the altnator broke off and im willing to bet it hit the casing and grounded out, i wonder what we fried?

well like i said everything works....when my car is on....so im thinking that i killed the alternator, plus my batt will last me about 2 days untill it dies and i have to charge it, so also my alternator is slowly on its way out too....i dont know what to do now thou....
