I was comming home last night and wound out 1st shifted at 7000 wound out second shifted at 7000 but missed it. THe RPMs jumped to 8900 just for a second as I hit the gas thinking I made the shift. The car just died after this...so I drifted to a lit parking lot to see whats going on It threw a light but I freaked out and dissconnected that battery when I had stopped to try and re-set everything...I know im an idiot its my fault but were past that. so the car now..

1.)Car cranks but does not turn over.

2.)when i would try to start it again the rpm needle would jump all over the place as if it were being shot at i mean like 700 to 3600 to 2300 to 6500 just every where.

3.)RPM needle does not jump around anymore...dont know why it just stopped.

4.)the timing is fine as far as we could see..

5.)when im cranking it it smells like fuel so the pump and all that is good i guess.

6.)radio afc all electrical stuff is working... The fuses are all good ,engine.... all of em

If you have anyideas please let me know thanks mods in profile also eairly that day we did a compression check 145 150 150 150 but it ran fine for hours till i missed this shift thanks guys.

Sounds like you jumped time to me.

Line up all the timing marks and report back.

well last night , we took the cover off...and everything was tight and looked good and when were cranking the cam gears are spinning as they should ? so could it still be this..ill give it a look later on along with testing for spark. Thanks

There's more to the timing than just the cam gears - it has to line up with the crank timing as well. Also run a compression check now that the car is dead. See if you get good numbers.

yeah i understand that ,im going to check later.....and also will do a compression check. what do you guys think about a spark problem ? possible ? thanks

But what is causing the tach to jump like that? That happened to me when one of the little wires for my cas came out of it's hole while i was tapping in my maft, the car wouldent start it kept cranking, And the tach was going nuts literally. As soon as i put it back in , it fixed the tach and the car started right up.

OK its fixed....NICKRULE99 Diagnosed the problem all the way from Mass. anywyas it was a plug that was pretty loose and still wont clip in right so maybe other people should check theres. heres a pic nick gave me ......thanks for the quick responce from all of you guys anywyas thanks
