Allrite, i got a 90 awd tsi, bone stock cept free mods and some suspension. Well today, i went out, cleaned under the hood a little bit, then started the car a little later to let it warm up for work. well i went back out there and bam, check engine light is on(wtf?) and i get out check under the hood, everything looks fine. So i give it a little rev....and it acts similar to when you blow a ic hose off, or a bad spark plug. Then i get under the hood while it runs, and it seems like i can hear a littel his, can find where, sound like by my injectors or intake manifold....checked to see if the car is smoking, nope, nothing, smelled the gas and it smelled like gas,,,,i do need to replace the exhaust manifold gasket but i dont think it would cause this, theres not that big of a gap down here, so thats about all i have concluded.

so either 1) spark plugs 2) IC hose wich ive checked for leaks and found nothing. 3) i dont have a clue

i have no idea whats goin on, this is the first problem the car has given me in 15k miles. my tool acces is limited and knowledge is very limited. So please help me, i dont know whats wrong with her....

could be the injector seat.
take some soapy water in a mist bottle and with car at idle carfully spay the soapy water on the injector where it seats into the head and look for bubbles around the injector and or idle change.

Either case means you have to replace the injector seats.

The soapy water trick works best when pressure testing the intake since under vacuum leaks just make bubbles inside not outside.

The part the injector sits in is called the injector insulator. They leak when they get old and hard.

I'm sure reading the code that is causing the ECU to turn on the CEL will at least give you an idea where to start. Go to the VFAQ site and look at the instructions for reading the codes. It's easy.
