My car makes a scraping/grinding noise after it's started in the morning. When I back out of my driveway, it stops. I hear it again when I start driving in 1st gear and a little in 2nd. Goes away in 3rd or once I'm driving for a bit. Then if I start the car again during the day, I hear it once I start driving in 1st, then will go away. It sounds like it's coming from the engine. It's not the harmonic balancer because I recently replaced it and the noise is not coming from that area. Any ideas?

Does it sound like its on the transmission side of the head like cam bearings? Mine gets that every once and a while.
i cant really tell where its coming from, maybe the head. but it kinda sounds like its coming from beneath the header too. damn dsm's :D

I noticed that the noise goes away when I fully push in the clutch. Someone told me it's the throwout bearing that's causing the noise and not to worry about it. What do you guys think?
