well all recently i bought a 1991 plymouth lazer rs n/t it ran fine when i pulled out of the dudes driveway but as i was heading home the car suddenly started losing power i ended up stalling trying to climb a hill and when i tried to floor it the car barely made it to 20 mph even going downhill and the rpms go up very slowly even when i am trying to accelerate and also when it is sitting in neutral. Is there anyone who can please help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

First check your hoses. It sounds like maybe a hose came off to the throttle body or something. I am not sure how bad it happens in a N/T. It could also be bad gas, if the car set for a while, it could happen. So check the hoses for now, and see if that's it, cause that is what it sounds like to me.

well before i bought the car it wouldn't even stay running so i bought a chiltons manual and redid the vacum lines and it started. i tried to start it today and it doesn't even wanna start it takes like 7 to 8 secs of cranking to get it even close to firing and i also have to press on the throttle to start it

Still, check the hoses, that is what it sounds like. Those things can blow off real easy if you don't heman them down. I am not really talking about the little bitty emissions hoses, this sounds like the TB hose or something. If not that, does the car run real rough after you get it running?

yes it runs rough when it first kicks over then the rpms shoot up to about 1000 to maybe 1200 then i pull up on the accerator and the car goes to normal idle

See if you have a tps on your tb. I don't remember if n/t's have them or not. Here is what you do if you have one, take the clip off, if the car idles up high, but steady, then you know what it is.

Well do that test real quick, all you got to do is pull the little plug near the firewall side of the TB, it is coming straight down on top of it. Let me know.

i found what appears to be a sensor from the spring side (back) of the tb with a wire on top of it

what do i do now

Start the car, then go and pull the wire off while it is running, if the car idles high, but steadily, then you know your sensor is bad. These sensors do go bad all the time.
