Problem is my crank pulley is going bad, so I tried to take it off and when I was trying to turn the bolts for the pulley the crank turned counter-clockwise. I tried to turn it back clockwise to where it was originally but the car won't start.

When I try to crank it up it doesn't do anything. Is there something I need to line up or what?

Thanks for helping a DSM newb out. :)

anyone?

There is a slight chance that when you turned the pulley counter clockwise, the timing belt skipped a few teeth. Align everything according to a manual or the VFAQ and make sure all your marks line up.

Both camshaft sprocket timing marks must be in line with the top surface of the cylinder head (Figure 3). [A straight edge (ruler) laid across the center of the cam shaft attaching bolts will help you to better see and align the timing marks.] The crankshaft and oil pump sprockets must also be aligned with their respective timing marks (Figure 3).

NOTE: Crankshaft may need to be rotated up to six turns before all sprockets are properly aligned and the rear balance shaft is in phase, due to the oil pump-to balance shaft gear ratio.

So is this what I need to do? I could have had this done already accept I've been working sunup to sundown. Damn, I can't wait to get this car running again. **rant***

Also I was just wondering if it could be something unrelated, since the timing marks seem to be lining up? Would the timing being off cause the starter to not even engage?

Yeah, I need to invest in some air tools along with a garage, a lift and some concrete to work on...... :)
