hello this local DSM Performance shop "XXX XXXXXXXX" isnt doing a good job with my turbo install. Its been
almost what 3 weeks and seems like its never gonna get done right. I
orginally wanted a 14b, the
told me they had it, is asked if they had the jpipe, they said sure
it will only take one day ok, $400.. wouldnt you expect a decent
install or at lease a nice custom
jpipe and at lease a real oil feed line, well let me tell you, the
job was shitti, fittings were messed up/slack, messed up my brand new
paint job on my valve cover,
intake pipe(it my be turn around differently due to heat, but it
still should been put back on properly), oil everywhere from a hose
with clamps as a oil return line (I
guess they thought i dindt know about turbos) they got from peppoys,
so it blew right before i got on onto Highway 316, thats not it, i
took it back and they said
would you perfer a t28, i said thats fine considering it was a little
bit better than the 14b and i could put my custom intake pipe back on
because that jpipe job was
horrible. ok 2 days later i was back on the road again with my so
called t28 and a real oil feed line and here goes another problem ok
i got onto highway 316 this
time so i wanted to boost, guess what? my manifold gasket pop. (may
have been because i had a missing stud) ok well from that, that just
shows you that they didnt
tork the bolts tight enough and so i had to take it back the next
day, Saturday (couldnt make the DSM meet) now its round 3, I took it
back now they charged me
$225 for a 02 sensor, gasket, some arp studs for manifold, labor, now
its running fine but the only thing i look at my turbo and it looks
like a T25 now he tells me
its a Garrett t28, my readding and research dosent tell me its a
Garret t28, so i said ok, i want a manual boost controller put on and
set to 15psi which will tell the
truth ok i took it over there yesterday for an attemt to set a
manual boost controler, ok for some reason they could not get it
right it keeps spiking to 20 and then
suddenly going back to 10, yes and you know what that means, a
rebuilt T25, Ok im not saying that they are lieing (tha acutauator
could of been messed up, but the
point is it should of been in great condition) Contunied to try to
get the boost right we drove it "XXX XXXXXXXX" and I trying to get it
set and yes it blowed again, Later
they mention its a t28 in a t25 housing...now you be the judge. Long
story short, I think i basically got shitted because right now my car
is still in the shop $625
down the drain, and its still not fix. What should i do.

The FP T28 looks just like the T25, you cannot tell a difference by looking down at it, you would have to take it out and check out the fins and compare them to your old t25. They is a huge difference between the exhaust and the compressor wheels. But my point being that the FP T28 looks identical to the T25 b/c they use the same Housing. I do agree with you, drops to 10 lbs? Something doesnt sound right. If I were you, I would find some one close to you that can help you unbolt the turbo and just take a look at it or have "XXXX" do it to prove to you that it was indeed the T28. Just my .02 --Tony :dsm:

i dont mean to sound like an ass, but if you buy a car like this you shouldnt have someone else do the work for you. the whole point of modding your car is so you can learn about it as well as make it better. maybe its just me but i cant imagine someone else touching my car mod wise. i bought a 2000 dollar warranty and i bought it for 1 reason, crankwalk and i doubdt thats gonna happen but if it does im good to go. everything else i fix myself. if i dont know how to fix it the internet does.

my advice, get your money back, have them return the car the way it was before they screwed with it. take it and do the work yourself. and if you say "i dont have the time nor the tools" then you should buy a honda civic and leave it stock. give the dsm to someone with the time and tools.

I would have to agree with Thomas91169, before I bought my DSM I truly thought that "turbo" was just a word that ment fast....I had no idea it was an actual car part.....even though I have few mods, I know now not only what a turbo really is, but how to upgrade, modify, and tune an engine, and I learned all this from doing it myself.......The more YOU do, the more YOU learn.
