I just bought a 95 Talon TSi AWD and I unplugged the battery while messin around with some things. The factory stereo asked for a code, not knowing the code I just tried 0000 and some other combination to see if it was some default code. Never heared of anything like this before. So now when I go to turn on the radio with the right password, it only reads OFF. How do I get it back to be able to put in the password?
Also, the car has the 1g BOV and all the lines are connect correctly to recirculate, but it still has a very loud hiss when shifting like it's venting. Is that because it has an aftermarket upper I/C pipe and 1g BOV?
Engine light is also on, dealer that I bought it from said it was due to an o2 sensor and he replaced it, but light is still on. Any way I can tell what it's from without taking it to a garage?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

thank you!!

Leave the ACC on with the radio on for about 40 minutes to clear the radio. You have 3 chances to enter the code. There are no default codes, and to get yours you need the radio's serial number and your VIN, and a cooperative dealer. Some will give the code to you for free over the phone, some insist on deep-dicking you for it. Find one of the free ones. The radio serial number will usually be on top of the radio, and on the back. If you pull the trim bezel, you may be able to see the serial number without removing the radio.

Usually, yes.

If that was what really was wrong, you can clear the CEL by leaving the battery disconnected for about 20 minutes. However, it won't clear the ECU until a dealer clears it.

If you got this thing from a dealer, make HIM get the radio code for you.

so leaving the the radio on and havin the key in the ACC position will clear it and allow me to enter the code in again? I'll try that right now...Thanx for the help!!!

I tried this today and no such luck. I put the car onto ACC and turned to radio on so it read "OFF". I left it like that for about an hour and no such luck, any other suggestions??

thanx for the help...When I get home this weekend I'll try again. Probably just didn't leave it sit long enough to reset itself. Will it automatically switch back to reading "CODE" or do will I have to shut it off first?

thank you!!!

If you got it from a dealer, odds are you paid too much anyway, so I would take it back to them and make them fix all the things that you come across.

who doesn't over pay for a DSM? it's got 33,000 original miles on it, so it's not bad. I got the radio fixed, just left it on reading "OFF" for an hour maybe a little more, then it dissapeared. when i pressed the power button again, the word "CODE" came back up.

thanx for the help everyone!!
