Moonroof Problem

Ok, Just bought my Red 96' GSX about a week ago. I'm starting to go through things in the car. I noticed that the moonroof doesn't go all the way down on the passanger side(just enough for water to get in). Tried pushing down while I pushed the open button. Didn't work.

Another Question...Does the 96' GSX moonroof slide back? If so what would be the problem of that not sliding back? I know the front end of the moonroof has some rust(most likely from the water leaking down the tracks towards the front from the open spot).

best thing for you to do is remove the glass (6 hex screws i think inside on sides of glass) and look at the cables and assemblies.... If you are looking for a used moonroof for parts i could sell you one that we bought and never used (since we fixed our old one) for a lil cash

What bored* said is pretty much right. I had the same problem with my '95 after I had a huge chunk of ice hurled at my open sunroof a few years back - and it wouldn't close. I unscrewed the glass and just had to reseat the assembly on the track. It doesnt take much to get it all done - maybe a half hour.

Ty Vm Defiant that manual helped a lot. So I guess the 96' model doesn't have a slide back feature tho

I'm not sure what you mean- the sunshade slides back, but the glass tilts up at the back, then slides back over the roof. All the 2Gs are the same, unless you've stumbled across a freak that has an after-market sunroof on it.
