okay I started my car today, put it in reverse and when i was letting up on the clutch i heard a sound that sounded like air leaking out or something?? So what the hell is that???
Then i put the clutch back down it went away, i started to let back up and there it was. Same when i was letting out in first...Then i didn't really notice anything when i was driving, but there wasn't anything around for the noise to bounce off. I've never heard this before...Any help? Someone mentioned the throw out bearing, but i have no clue and I'm not going to pretend that i do...so someone please help. I don't want to cause any problems to my ride that could be avoided... i have a leak somewhere and I'm sure of that, but it was in connection with the movements of the clutch..

Thanks

Does anyone know the answer to this? I'm getting the same type of thing, but I can hear it in any gear, with it getting louder to faster I go.

im kinda throwing this one out, but maybe ur throwout bearings??? mine had the same type of noise

i got same typa thing, only when its cold though. when i put in clutch slight whistling noise, sounds like a bov. its a constant whistle. i only notice when im parked. but lately my clutch has seemed a lot softer, and on my last speed session it was acting weird. like as i shifted the revs would more slowly change, like it would take longer to drop from 6500 to 6000 as i shifted. plz help. is this clutch or air system related?

When you guys mean air noise, like a sssssssshhhhhhh. noise? Could it just be exhaust leak, from the load on the car?

Yeah, that's the kind of noise. I don't think it's an exhaust leak, because as SOON as I disengage the clutch, the noise goes away. Any time it's in gear, the noise is there. The other reason I kind of doubt an exhaust leak is because the other night I ran door to door with a Silverado SS, which is supposed to be a 14.8 second truck. The only thing I've done to my car is the intake...although I'll probably have to check for an exhaust leak. I guess it's possible...

Anyone have a definative answer to this? I just noticed mine had this too, it will stop as soon as I touch the clutch pedal...i don't even need to depress it all the way, just like lay my foot on it a bit. I don't think its TOB related cause mine is a brand new OEM one. It does sound like a weird hissing kinda noise, but my RPMs don't drop and there is no additional load on the motor when I push the clutch in.

the best way to check if it is the trannsmission itself is to drain the fluid..when you drain the fluid look for metal flakes...you will be able to see them rite away they will be shinny..

Ive also herd a "AIR" Noise coming from the clutch petle itself only when fully depresed and released almost like sucking water into an empty bottle

I also Have grinding into 1st 2nd and hard to find Reverse but if i hold the clutch down for
a few seconds it is fine shifting at any rpm undefined
