ok so here we go...I posted a few weeks ago about my 96 Talon tsi bogging down under boost really badly. So i leave the car parked for a week because i was working alot. I go back to the car and it wont start????? I check for leaks, check the Mafs, plugs are getting spark and fuel. The car will start for a split second and die with alot of clicking comming from the engine bay. So i pull the plugs out and they look like the wrong ones and they are gapped at 50 :eek!: i put in some new plugs thinking this will fix the problem but nothing. so then i pull my Ecu out and drive down to my friends house and try it on his 95 gsx and it wont start just like mine. he pops his ecu back in and his car starts right up. So my question is my ecu is fried i know. But could the ecu have been causing the missfiring under boost or was that just the plugs? I didnt get a chance to pull my friends Ecu and try it in my car because he had to leave but i guess i need an 2g Awd ecu. Any 2g turbo awd ecu will work correct? Thanx for all the help

I doubt that your ECU was causing the misfire however, it is theoretically possible that the ecu was causing the misfire. With your plugs gapped at .50 though I am willing to be more than a few beers on the plugs being the culprit.

I don't think any will work... Search for ecu simularities, I think 95 can't be used in other 2g applications same with 99... but search to be accurate, cause I am not 100% sure.

Ok well from what i gathered from searching the 95-96 Ecu is the only one i can use because the 97-99 cars have the CAS in a different location and the firing order is different. So my new question is Will a 95-96 gst computer work in my car or do the AWD cars have seperate ECU's?

so can anyone tell me if i can use a 95-96 gst auto/manual ecu on my 96 talon tsi awd. I have found a 95 non eprom gst ecu that i need to find out works on my car or not. Any help will be appreciated. I have searched and some say it will and some say it wont.

I want to say you need a AWD one, but I just don't know 100% so I'm not going to say it... Oops!

 anyone know to help him out?

The ecu doesn't know the difference between FWD and AWD models really, it's not like we have a computer controlled diff or anything in our cars. I believe you can use the different ECUs in(95-6 97-9) in different cars as long as you change some pins on the ecu. Check the vfaq I remember there being a page on that in there. Another place to look would be the NABR public board. I know a lot of the members there are quite experienced with the 2G ECU.
Also, Jesse you don't seem to know your elbow from your asshole when it comes to the 2G ecu and it shows. probably best if you don't know not to say anything.
