Hey guys,

A while ago I installed my greddy 24R and I'm pretty happy with it for the time being. Anyway, about a week afterwards I started to have some cooling issues. Temp shot almost all the way up to the red until I'd move. This lead me to believe that maybe the IC was blocking too much flow to the radiator. However, I started w/the simple stuff first.

I picked up a new thermostat, flushed the coolant system and replaced it w/about 1.5-2qts of antifreeze and the rest water and 2 bottles of water wetter. I couldn't find a new cap at the time. This seemed to improve the situation somewhat dramatically. It was good for a day or two.

Now, if I just go drive around town (nothing above 3rd gear), even "beating" on her, the temp seems to stay smack in the middle. However, usually during the morning commute to work it's fine until I hit 4th and accelerate the temp climbs to around the top of the little thermometer symbol. Then most of the time it goes back down after cruising a little bit. The rest of the day it's usually fine as well.

Here's what I think, but I'm looking for more suggestions. I think the IC is blocking a lot of the flow to the radiator, however there's more than enough space between the radiator and IC to provide enough flow, IMO. When I replaced the thermostat I noticed that the new one did not have the little wiggly, poppet looking valve thing on the circumference of the thermostat. I'm wondering if that serves as some kind of bleed and without it I'm incurring some sort of hot vapor/liquid lock situation when I get under more load in 4th and 5th causing the rising temperature.

Anyway, sorry for the length of the post, but I wanted to be as descriptive as possible. Mods are in my profile if you want to take a look. But any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying to fix this before a dyno day on sunday.
If I left something out, just ask.

Thanks guys,
Nick

Ya, that was the other possibility I didn't mention. I'm due for a timing belt and everything else anyway.
