I have already had a transfer case problem in the past. One night while driving it started making a loud grinding noise. So I added fluid and the noise went away for about three months. So the other night I was driving again and it started making the same noise. But here is the funny thing, on both nights it was raining incredibley hard, is that any reason to make the transfer case act up? Or could it be something entirely different? I just find it funny that both times this happened it was raining intensly, it never did it when It was sunny and clear out. Even the next day I took it out when it was nice out and nothing???

judging by how the transfer case works etc... i think the two are unrelated unless theres some freak events happening, i dont know, I still highly doubt it though

Ya. Its really strange, now I am starting to wonder if it even is the transfer case in the first place. I have been driving it for the past couple of days in perfect weather and nothing. But I bet once its raining again and I drive, it will start making the loud grinding noise.

i've got the same problem. whenever it rains really hard i get a grinding/pinging sound but mine is coming from right under the clutch pedal. it will even do it in neutral. this only happens when it rains. does not effect the power of the car.
