hey,
i have a 92 awd 2.0 turbo with 152,000 miles.. since i bought it it has made a puff or 2 of blue smoke only on start up and somtimes not at all. the car has sat for a year before i bought it because it needed a ecu. well after doing alot of work to it (water pump, timiming belt, ecu....) i hoocked the the turbo back up and have driven it maybe 3 times but stopped driving it cause my gauge was reading 14 pounds of boost which i guess is reallly hi. so i stopped driving but it it has bin started and moved around the driveway but since yesterday i started it up and took it down the driveway and back it started smokin REALLY bad.. i thought it caught on fire! but no it was coming out of the exhaust, so i discounected the turbo and its still the same... it smokes up the hole nieghbor hood i mean i've never seen a car smoke so bad! at first it was blue but now its like a blueish white and just poors out. the thing seems to run ok i guess it doesn't really miss, and it revs fine but somtimes the engine gets really shacky... i'm going to go check the spark plugs and see if there fauled or covered in oil, coolant w/e... if anybody has any ideas please speek up! thanks alot Cory

sounds like you might have blown your head gasket, which is typical of white smoke, ck to see what the oil looks like, if its chocolate milky then you have radiortor fluid in the oil, you can also compress some air into each cylindar with the radiotor cap off to see if any bubbles come out of the radiotor fluid

hey,
i went and checked the plugs and found out that #1 cylinder spark plug wasn't even tighten down so it had like no compression in that cylinder, LOL it runs pretty good now and desn't smoke anymore thanks alot fasteclipse... what i don't get tho is how could the thing even start or run like it did with like no compression?? thanks alot, Cory

haha thats awesome, its not to often with a dsm that you will get an easy fix like that..glad to hear you got it running again, wheww close one.. :D

   guess what it started smoking again! i think the head is cracked or have a bad headgasket cause i checked my coolant and it was dry and so was the fill tank... i filled it up and took for a drive(got plates for it ) and soon as i pulled out of the driveway i kept hearing this awfull noise i thought the engine was gunna seize but seemed ok we get about not even halfway down the road and its starts blowin blue smoke again really bad so i baby it i didn't even drive it hard or anything so we turn around and come back and heres a line of powersteering fluid all down the driveway so great but still doesn't fix the smoke and the smoke smells like coolant but is blue and i checked my oil doesn't seem like theres any coolant and i check the coolant seems orange and dirty but when the water pump was replaced i don't know what coolant was used the redish colored kind or the normal green but i checked for bubles coming form the resivior and couldn't tell ill check again but..... does it sound like a cracked head? headgasket ???? turbo ??? i have bin looking at jdm engines and havn't decided but let me know thanks again but i guess i'm not so lucky, it is a normal turbo dsm after all, LOL :D
