i have a 1991 Eclipse GSX, stock, i was coming home one nite and all of a sudden it just shutdown, i try to start it up again, nothing, just cranks and cranks...well i towed it to my dad's shop...the fuel wont stop coming into the engine, everytime i turn on the key into the on position the fuel just gushes into all the cylinders, i kept disconnecting relays and sensors such as the fuel pump relay, the crank angle sensor to try to figure out wuts letting the fuel in, nothing, i narrowed it to the ecu but iam not sure either, any advice...thanks
 
well i got new plugs for the car, and the car wants to start, it keeps trying to start and starts only when i keep turning the ignition key, when i hold the igntion key and turn the engine starts and revs to 3000 rpms with a flood of white smoke apparently from unburned gas and when i shut it off the weird noise comes from the fuel rail, i dont know what, but i turned the car off compeltely and took the key out and the noise still keeps coming, i duno whtat the hell is wrong with myc ar...
 
i was reading some of the posts, and someone wrote something about when the caps or injector firing solenieds in the ecu go , the gas floods the engine, i think its the ecu, but if anybodys knows...just leav eone :dsm:
 
Yeah thats most likely what it is, the injector firing solenoids or w/e in the ECU go, its kind of a common thing for 1Gs actually. Talk to "Steve" (thats his username) on here, he fixes ECUs and can probably fix yours or at least give you some direction about whether or not it's fixable.
 
i swapped my frineds ecu and the car started up just fine, when it ook the ecu apart , two of the injector soleinds were completely melted and all the capactators were leakin pretty bad...thanks for all the help though..peace

guarantee thats the problem..i had them go bad in my car. it floods the engine because it shorts the injectors out and they run wide open when they spray. make sure u change the oil tho when ur get the new ecu cuz chances are ur crankcase is full of gasoline mixed with the oil.

That would do it. Sounds like the drivers shorted pulling the one side to ground and causing the injectors to spray whenever the MPI relay was on.

i seem to be having the same problem but when i hold the gas at WOT it will eventually start must be the ECU
 
Don't wait to change the oil till you get the ECU fixed. Drain the oil now and leave it oben (plug, cap, and filter off) overnight to dry. The fuel and oil can react and actually corrode your bearings while it sits there.
