OK I have an aftermarket alarm that has been on the car and working flawlessly for about a year. Just this week my car has started annoying me. When I use my keychain and unlock/disarm the aftermarket alarm then I OPEN the door, some kind of factory alarm goes off. The horn starts honking. It is different from my aftermarket alarm. I have to lock and unlock the doors to make it stop. How can I disable this "factory alarm" and any idea why it started to do this out of the blue?

Here's the deal with the 1g alarm:

When the door is open and the doors are locked, the factory alarm is activated. So if you have the door open, and set your keyless alarm(with power locks), the factory alarm will arm.

The only way to disarm the factory alarm is with a key in the door, so your keyless entry alarm will NOT disarm it, hence the alarm starts when the door is opened.

To stop this from happening: either only set your aftermarket alarm with all doors shut or, some aftermarket alarms come with a factory disarm wire. You should be able to hook this wire up to the corresponding wire on your car. I would think it comes from the actual door lock cylinder.

Check it out and give us a post back. Good luck.
