Hey guys, I changed my stock BOV yesterday to the Type-S and after test driving the car it seemed to run okay. I then took my friend for a ride and I wasn't able to build any boost. I then put the stock back on to see if the Type-S was the problem but I still couldn't build any boost. My RPMs jump up very quickly but the car doesn't seem to go anywhere. The little rubber piece surrounding the piece of the BOV that fits into the UIP is torn some, but could that be the source of such a big problem? I tried to find a replacement at hardware stores today but no luck, even with Mitsu.

yea if that gasket is torn that's most likely your problem. Replace it and that post up again.

I'll give an update once I do. Though, anyone know where to pick up a new rubber piece or even a good alternative to help create a tight seal? I just a couple of wrap arounds with rubber tape but that didn't seem to work.

are u still on the stock uicp? if so i would recomend getting the dave brode uicp, it doesnt cost much and it workds great, your bov would be better fitted there,
also if your rpms go up but the car doesnt move much wouldnt that be a slipping clutch??

That's an idea. I just had my master cylinder changed because my clutch went out on me. It's working again now but the same day I got my car back and changed the BOV this started happening. I'm taking my car back to the shop on Tuesday to have my timing belts changed and I'm going to have the shop check it out.

I was just thinking, will boost still build even if my clutch isn't holding and the RPMs are jumping up?

depends on how bad your clutch is slipping. if its slipping bad then theres alot less load on the engine. the turbo requires load to create boost, almost like when you rev in neutral, you might make 3lbs of boost at WOT@6krpm.

get some sort of aftermarket IC piping with the greddy flange. the same thing happened to me, that little rubber grommet that goes between the stock hole and the greddy mounting plate ripped in half. i was wondering where my huge boost leak was coming from. replaced with hard upper and lower IC pipes from ebay(greddy style) and i can do 15lbs now.

It turns out it was the BOV and my stock grommet ripped just like yours. I put my stock BOV back on with a thick layer of rubber tape and everything is sealed up nicely now. I'm having my friend order up the GReddy intercooler piping for me so I can ditch the rubber crap and maintain integrity when I turn up the boost a bit.

Oh, and I see you live in Modesto. We should meet up some time to check out each other's setups :thumb:
