Hey guys, i have a lil problem w. my car.

Since about a month and a half ago, sometimes ill be driving down the road, and when i hit the gas, the car will just like jerk and stutter, i have to downshift and slam the gas, so it goes away... Another problem is, The check engine light comes on about 20 mins after that happens, but i checked all the hoses and everything, no leaks, i cant seem to find the prob, and i dont wanna take it to the mechanic cuz he will hit me big with the bill...

N e 1 had the same prob, please help

Have someone pull the code that tripped the CEL, for starters. It's not a "something's loose" light, it's a "something in one of the sensors for my computer isn't reading right" light. Fiddling with belts and hoses won't often fix a CEL.

Yeah definitely get that code pulled, Autozone (in most places - I think they charge in CA) will do it for free. My guess is a misfire code, but it will tell you what cylinder to "concentrate" on, or maybe it's another problem altogether? So get the code pulled, tell us what it is, and we'll go from there. Good luck!

I don't think Autozone reads OBD I codes not that you have to go anywhere to read them. Anybody with a multimeter, or a 12v LED, or a 12v piezo buzzer can read the codes from a 1G ECU.

From the symptoms and the age of the car I'd hazzard a guess that the TPS has gone intermittant.

Theres several places around here that do it for free, Auto Zone, Baxters, and Shucks, so ill just have em run the Electrical Test, im guessing, and ill post the code..

Thanks
