well, first of all if theres ANY question of the timing belts condition. REPLACE IT. it's one of the single most important things to keep replaced in your DSM. Warning signs are cracks, stress marks. remember there is a balance shaft belt too on your DSM, kind of a second timing belt. if that breaks .... bye bye timing belt... ANY DOUBT ... change it... this is an EASY job.

i was told it was replaced by the previous owner and now i was told it needs to be replaced again. but i think the shops trying to scam some money.
 
Are you still in contact with the previous owner?
Ask them bout how long ago it was changed, and also ask them if they know what was changed?
How many miles do you have on your car?
 
the car just turned 77,000.. the previous owner says she doesnt know what was done to it but she had spent 2000$ on repairs for it.the lifters are noisy too. OMG
 
Wow, 2k for a t-belt job, sounds like she let it break.....

Lifters, I have a cure, but you've got to be willing to use some CRC Engine Flush.
Then get factory oil filters from Mistu....
Lucas Synthethic Oil Stabilizer white bottle, black label..... good sh!t.
Works with either synthetic of non syn oils.
Mobil 1 10W-30 non syn.....
My car leaked oil and I had lifter tick like a mutha.
I poured in a can of this CRC Engine Flush idled for 5 mins, dumped the oil and proceded to tear apart a perfectlly good engine for a T-Belt job and BSE.
I resealed everything from the oil pan to the valve cover with all new seals and gaskets.
I spent a little under $500 on parts and tools and my engine is clean as hell, runs hella good and I don't have any signs of lifter tick at all....
